An aneurysm or pseudoaneurysm of the dialysis vessel refers broadly to a markedly enlarged vessel that looks like a tumor-like swelling.
Native fistula (AVF): commonly seen as marked enlargement of the vessel at the needling sites. Besides the quality of the vessel wall itself, repeated needling combined with stenosis is also a common cause of aneurysm.
Graft (AVG): commonly caused by rupture of the graft after repeated needling of the graft.
Routine vascular surgery follow-up allows changes in an aneurysm to be observed regularly, and ultrasound examination at the clinic can find the cause so that maintenance can be done early.
If an aneurysm enlarges quickly, it is prone to rupture and heavy bleeding.
At present, treatment of aneurysms includes conventional surgery to reduce, repair or reconstruct the aneurysm,
and aneurysms of grafts can also be treated effectively in a minimally invasive way.
