For “Hemodialysis Access Annual Symposium: 2025 Smart Medicine for the Future,” we are honored to have Pang-Chung Liu, founder of Wei Chuan Travel, and his team share their valuable experience of helping dialysis patients realize their dreams of overseas travel over many years.
For many dialysis patients (hemodialysis patients), the routine of three sessions a week can become an invisible limit on the freedom to explore the world. Wei Chuan Travel has helped dialysis patients travel abroad for many years to realize their dreams. Founder and chairman Pang-Chung Liu, holding to the ideas of “solving problems for society” and “realizing dreams,” makes dialysis not an obstacle to overseas travel but an opportunity to begin a new journey.
1. Before departure: cross-border medical coordination The team proactively contacts the patient’s medical institution in Taiwan and the local dialysis center to exchange the relevant medical records. This involves not only reserving a bed but also key data such as the “choice of dialyzer,” “needle size,” “ultrafiltration rate” and “heparin dose,” to ensure the patient can receive the same standard of treatment with peace of mind abroad.
2. During the trip: a nurse travels with the group, with health management To further improve safety, a “dedicated nurse” is arranged to accompany the group throughout and respond to any emergency at any time. The team also fully implements “travel health management,” for example measuring and recording each patient’s blood pressure at a fixed time every day, so that health status is closely monitored while enjoying the trip.
Founder Pang-Chung Liu believes that “a dream trip must not be overlooked,” and hopes to be a source of support for dialysis patients’ travel, helping patients and their families “travel with peace of mind before departure and with reassurance after,” and regain the courage and joy of exploring the world.
